Well done to the events team in being successful in their application to the ‘Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme’ for the Village Green Fete. Please support us and tell all your friends too! COLLECT TOKENS WITH EVERY TESCO VISIT & VOTE FOR US!

We will receive either £1000, £2000 or £4000 depending votes from Tesco customers in November and December.

The “Events Team” at St Elizabeth’s need your help!! Having submitted a bid to the Aviva Community Fund in hopes of securing funding towards the Cedar Avenue Village Green Fete in 2018 they are through to the second round – the public vote – and need your support. Please follow the link https://community;fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/projhect/view/17-3878 to vote. Once registered you have ten votes. Funding for this event allows St Elizabeth’s to reach out and show God’s love at work so please make every effort to support them as much as you can. Voting ends at midday on Tuesday 21st November.

SHOEBOX SERVICE 5TH NOVEMBER at 10am

 

2017 Annual Memorial Service

Held to remember those who have gone before us in life & faith on Sunday 3rd December at 6.30pm in Holy Trinity. Whilst those recently bereaved will receive an invitation, the service is open to anyone who wishes to attend this act of commemoration. If you’d like to light a candle & hear the name read out of someone you knew & loved, please fill in a form & put it in the box at the back of church. LINE DANCING!

"Holy Trinity Namibia Committee invite you to our Festive Line Dance on Saturday 16th December starting at 2p.m. The event will be at St Elizabeth's Church Hall, Cedar Avenue, Horwich. Tickets are £4 per person and include hot and cold drinks and a mince pie or a piece of shortbread. The Line Dance is recommended for beginners but not suitable for under 10 years of age. All proceeds go to Holy Trinity Church's Namibia Link supporting projects to enable people to live better lives. We will as always have our Fair Trade Hamper Raffle - just in time for Christmas! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Every Friday, 2 groups run at the Horwich Community (Resource) Centre: ‘Tots & Toast’ for parents & toddlers (9–11am) & ‘Friday Lunch Club’ for Seniors (11am–1pm) – both need volunteers to help prepare drinks, lay tables & serve food & drinks from the kitchen. Anyone wanting work experience for a CV, or just come as a volunteer is welcome. (Vicki Robinson-Birbeck vickihrc@outlook.com)

 

YOUTH MINISTER UPDATE

We now have money (or pledges of money) to cover the cost of this project. Thank you to everyone who is contributing and there is still time to donate so don’t feel you have missed out! We are very grateful for a very significant financial contribution from a local company, The Next Stage Care Group (which includes Next Stage for Fostering), to enable us to move forward. The post is now being advertised (on Premier Jobsearch) with interviews planned for December! Please keep praying for the right person to see the advert and to apply.

 

ST ELIZABETH'S YOUNG PEOPLE
We are looking for leaders for all of our children's groups ages ranging from 3 - 13 yrs. If you are curious about what we do and how and would like a no obligation taster, please speak to our clergy. (A DBS check would be required)

PCC SECRETARY
We are still looking for a person to fill this post on a regular basis. Please prayerfully consider whether this may be something God is nudging you to do. If you are a regular attender, would like to be more involved with the leadership at St. Elizabeth’s and have been on the electoral roll for at least 6 months, this may be for you. There are 6 meetings a year (alternate months on the 3rd Monday) plus the AGM and chiefly involves taking the meeting minutes. There is a job description available. Please speak to the Clergy or Wardens if you would like some more information.

REFRESHMENTS
Is there anyone who doesn't already help with refreshments who would consider doing so as we are now getting quite desperate for helpers. This also applies to the other duties for Welcome, Readings and Intercessions. The more volunteers we have, the less times we all have to be on the rota!

CLEANING!
Oh joy, some of you may be thinking! Keeping our buildings tidy & clean requires some commitment and everyone is a volunteer. The Church has a dwindling rota and we have now had to bring in an outside company for the hall.
Please, please, please, if you can spare approx. 1-2 hours once a the month, speak to the Church Wardens. Thank you.

CATERING TEAM - SUPPORT NEEDED.
Could you consider helping the Catering Team here in church? We have a very small team at the moment and they carry out a vital role catering for so many of the events that take place at St. Elizabeth‟s. If you feel you could help at all, please speak to one of the team.

THE GRUB TUB - STILL IN DEMAND!
Sadly there is still a need for the Grub Tub! Organised by Dave Bagley of Urban Outreach (Bolton) & Winter Watch; the grub tub is intended to provide a food bank for needy families in the area due to illness, debts or fines, benefit delays, homelessness, domestic abuse, redundancy or family breakdown. People collect food from the Urban Restore Centre and stay for refreshments and a chat with volunteers who can signpost people to Urban Outreach projects and other agencies. Older people, those with mobility issues or single parents with young children can have food delivered.
If you are able to help by donating a tin of food or similar it would be gratefully received. A list of suitable items to donate is available at the back of the Church. Please include cereal.
Please try to support families in our community - every little helps.

FLORAL DECORATIONS.
Could you consider making a donation towards the cost of floral decorations in church, perhaps to celebrate an anniversary or remember a loved one? A sign up sheet is available at the back of church where you can indicate the date that you would like to remember. If you feel you could help at all, please speak to Sandra Almond.

EMAIL DISTRIBUTION OF ST. ELIZABETH’S NOTICE SHEET.
In an attempt to ensure that everyone is kept up to date with church notices and events, especially over the holiday periods when people may be away, we will shortly begin emailing the notice sheet to everyone who provided their email details when registering for the electoral role recently. If for any reason you do not wish to receive the notice sheet in electronic format please email me at janehalstead@live.co.uk and I will take your name off the distribution list. Thank you.

APPLYING FOR A CHURCH SCHOOL.
If you are considering applying for a church school for your children you are encouraged to make use of our voluntary self registration of attendance scheme. This will help us to have accurate information to support any application for admission. Further details are at the back of the church.
