Jesus said:
Let the little children come to me
and do not stop them,
for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Baptism is a sign of belonging to the Christian community and it is always a joy to welcome a new member to the church! In a child’s baptism service there are some very serious promises that parents and godparents have to make, about following Jesus Christ and bringing their child up as part of the Christian community. It is our responsibility to help parents to understand these commitments before arranging a date for a baptism to take place.

For some families a Thanksgiving Service is an appropriate alternative. It is a lovely service at which we give thanks for the safe arrival of the child, pray for God’s blessing and protection for the child and pray for wisdom, strength and patience for the parents.

To arrange a baptism or a thanksgiving, if you don’t already come to church, we ask you to come along to whichever church you would like your service. We would love to meet you!

When you come, please ask for a copy of our Baptism Information. After that you can either book into a one-evening class in one of our local anglican churches or sometimes one of the vicars can come round to visit you.

Baptisms and thanksgivings take place approximately monthly during the main morning services.

The available dates can get booked up a few months in advance so please do enquire in good time.

There is no charge for a baptism service (but donations are always welcome).
